Summary

The present Annual book 2010 of the Department of Mass Communications in NBU is the 14th edition in succession of the scientific book and the 5th modern electronic edition.

The first section of the Annual Book 2010 includes studies by lecturers of the Department of Mass Communications in NBU: Prof. Vladimir Mihaylov, D.Sc., founder of the department presents his study entitled  “Are the media going to hold on to their status as the 4th power?” in which he searches the answer to the question what reflection the new media will have on this statute. Prof. Tolya Stoitsova, D.Sc. examines the problem with Cyber-bullying in her study “Back to the question – what do we do with the media: Cyber-bullying – definition, problems, internationalism”. In it she presents how this problem is treated in different countries through the view of some international research. In “How to shelter the social media?”. Assoc. Prof. Dessislava Boshnakova, PhD shows the opportunities which social media open up for the business and the most effective way to use them. Assoc. Prof. Nevyana Krusteva, PhD shows through the prism of different business philosophies and strategies “The control of relations with customers as a communication” and the role which UBK could have for successful business development. Assoc. Prof. Russi Marinov, PhD examines the questions and the problems connected with the building of new semantic net and cloud computing in his study “New communication architectures – information data and computer “cloud””. The head of the Department of Mass Communications - Assoc. Prof. Mihail Meltev, PhD presents the techniques for visual building of the successful television interview in “Professional practices in direction of the television interview”. Assoc. Prof. Raina Nikolova PhD introduces to us the problem of “Legal order and politics in the struggle against child pornography in Internet” with her study in the annual book. Ass. Prof. Stoyko Petkov, PhD presents the new opportunities for the business with Web 2.0 softwares in “Quo vadis, Media”.  Ass. Prof. Rosen Stoyanov, PhD presents the necessary elements for effective political communication in the context of “Political language and political speaking (Bulgaria 1989 – 2010)”. Dr. Petya Aleksandrova pays attention to the problems which arise from unsuccessful translations of foreign movies in her study “Lost in translation”. Boril Metckov makes analysis of the influence of sitcoms over the politics in „„Horse pill in sweetened cover”: television satire and reforms in public management”.  Todor Panayotov tells about the longest published, the best written and the most authoritative newspaper in The Third Bulgarian Kingdom in his study “Everyday newspaper “Mir” for the politics of the Great powers, the Balkan countries and other states during the period 1923 – 1944”.

There are studies of PhD students of the Department of Mass Communications PhD in the second section of the Annual book. In his study “Digitalization of television: history and perspectives” Hristo B. Bonev examines the development and the challenges which digital television poses. Juliana Kyncheva presents different aspects of media legislation in her study “Regulatory and self-regulatory media norms”. Ralitsa Filipova follows the historical development of the radio in Bulgaria and in the world in “Development of radio as a medium”. Evelina Christova examines the development of the communicator's profession in view of its standing in the organization structure of "Internal organization communications in today's organization structure"

The third section represents the accents of the Spring and the Autumn conferences of 2010 carried out by the Department of Mass Communications – the first topic is “Journalism and PR from the mobile phone”, and the second one - “Is there a crisis of confidence in the media and PR”.

The fourth section is allotted to the XII Summer school of Public Relations which was on the topic “Communication practices and inner publics” this year.

The fifth part is dedicated to the celebration of Assoc. Prof. Alexander Angelov, PhD's 65th birthday.

In the sixth and final part of the Annual book is held the tradition of presenting the graduates, in this case Alumni 2010, with their names, photos and titles of their thesises.
